Kehendak bertahan

《Kehendak Bertahan - The Will to Stay》

In this series, every mechanical butterfly is a paradox—
fragile, yet fearless.
This one bears rust. Her wings are chipped, her porcelain cracked.
She is no longer whole. And yet, she flies.

This piece is dedicated to those who have lived with cancer—
the diagnosed, the healed, the caretakers.
Her Unit ID, CNCR-0204, marks World Cancer Day.
Her Series No, STY-ALV, stands for her quiet affirmation: the will to stay alive.

She is not a symbol of victory, nor a banner of battle.
She resembles the post-surgery body, the medicated soul, the still-healing heart.
Her metal joints are rusted—stained by time, by treatment.
Her batik wings are frayed, faded, but still open.

She is no longer the butterfly she was.
But she remains—
And that,
is enough.

In her slow and silent flight,
we witness a soft kind of resistance.
Not loud.
Not triumphant.
But present.

Her name is  Kehendak Bertahan – The Will to Stay.
And it is not just hers.
It is ours.

~Each echo carves a memory into time ~

没有高声疾呼,也不需要鲜明的胜利;

Kehendak Bertahan – The Will to Stay。

Purpose of Creation |

This work is deeply personal to me. My grandmother passed away from cancer, and through her journey I witnessed the weight of suffering that illness can bring. Yet I also saw the quiet strength of choosing to keep going, even when the body is frail. The Will to Stay is my way of offering encouragement to those still fighting—to remind them that even in fragility, there is resilience, and that every moment of staying is an act of courage.

《The Will to Stay》是我想给予病患的一份鼓励——提醒他们,即便脆弱之中,仍然存在坚强;每一个选择继续活下去的时刻,都是勇气的体现。
