只是帮我“点一下”

在意大利学习修复的时候，老师曾经夸过我一件事：他说我对混色很敏感。

When I was studying restoration in Italy, my teacher once praised me for one thing: he said I was very sensitive to color mixing.

当时的我当然开心。毕竟我是画画出身，在一群学生里被称赞调色不错，那种优越感是会默默膨胀的。

Of course, I was happy. Having a background in painting, being praised for good color matching among a group of students made my sense of superiority quietly swell.

我最喜欢的课就是润色（Retouching）。因为那是最接近“画”的阶段。回国以后，我开始接修复案子。最常听到的一句话是：

My favorite class was Retouching, because that is the stage closest to "painting." After returning home, I began to take on restoration cases. The phrase I hear most often is:

听起来很简单。一个小点，一笔颜色，一下完成。

那一刻我突然意识到——原来我在意大利被夸的混色能力，在现实世界里，就叫做“点一下”。

It sounds so simple. A small dot, a stroke of color, done in a second. At that moment, I realized—the color-mixing ability I was praised for in Italy is simply called "a little touch-up" in the real world.

问题是——修复里的“点一下”，通常不是一下。

真正动笔之前，要看，要判断，要对比，要试色，要等干。很多时间都花在那一下之前。最后真正“点”的那一瞬间，可能只有几秒钟。

The problem is—a "touch-up" in restoration is usually not just one touch. Before the brush even moves, you have to observe, judge, compare, test the color, and wait for it to dry. So much time is spent before that single stroke. The actual moment of "touching up" might only last a few seconds.

所以每次再听到：“帮我点一下。” 我总会无奈地笑一下。

在我心里，那是一种很帅气的笑。那种——“你不知道我接下来要做多少事”的笑；电视剧里拽拽的表情；那种自带一号男主角光环的笑。

So every time I hear, "Just give it a touch-up," I give a helpless smile. In my mind, it’s a cool smile. That kind of "you have no idea how much work I’m about to do" smile; that confident look from a TV drama; that smile with a protagonist's halo.

因为只有我自己知道——此点一下，非彼点一下。

Because only I know—this "touch-up" is not just any touch-up.
