THE ART OF RESONANCE / 共鸣的艺术
Every vibration tells a story that words cannot reach.
The Soulmate Series began in 2022 during the preparation of my second solo exhibition, Ukiran.
Inspired by the idea of carving, I experimented with hand-carving the body of an electric guitar, exploring how sculpture and music could exist in a single object.
The journey was not easy. Building a visually distinctive guitar was one challenge, but making it a fully playable instrument required technical expertise beyond my own.
Through a friend, I met Jonathan, a professional guitar technician who shared the same passion for creating instruments. Our collaboration started with him setting up the guitars I built, but by the third instrument we began working together more closely — studying tone, hardware, balance, and design as a unified process.
From this collaboration, the Jonathan Soulmate Series was born — a meeting of craftsmanship and artistic vision, creating instruments that are both visually unique and ready for the stage.
Each guitar is not only an artwork, but a living instrument — made to be seen, played, and heard.
